One person was hurt in a wreck in north central Emporia on Sunday night.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says 50-year-old Margarita Parks was driving a pickup north on Exchange when she hit a parked vehicle in the 1100 block around 11 pm. Parks suffered minor injuries when her airbag deployed. She was taken to Newman Regional Health for observation and treatment.
The second vehicle was unoccupied. Officers are still determining why the crash happened.
5 am Monday: Investigation underway after car in motion hits parked car
One person suffered minor injuries after a crash in Emporia on Sunday night.
The wreck happened near 12th and Exchange at 11 pm, according to Emporia Police. Early indications are a car driver was northbound in the 1100 block of Exchange and hit a parked car.
The driver of the car in motion was taken to Newman Regional Health for care and treatment. That person’s name has not been released. It does not appear there was anybody in the parked car when the crash happened.
Driving conditions were wet at the time of the crash, but the early indications are the road conditions were not a contributing factor to the wreck.
