A Washington State man was hurt in a crash on the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County, while a Burlington woman was hurt in a separate Turnpike crash Sunday.
In the Chase County crash, a car driven by 38-year-old Scott McKinley of Lake Stevens, Wash., was southbound and hydroplaned in wet conditions near mile marker 100, two miles north of the Matfield Green service exit and 27 miles southwest of the Emporia gate. McKinley’s car hit the center barrier wall and then went into a ditch just after 2 pm.
McKinley was taken to Newman Regional Health for treatment afterward.
Separately, 47-year-old Dawn Schroeder of Burlington was hurt when her pickup hydroplaned in wet conditions at mile marker 76, or the north El Dorado exit. Her truck hit the barrier wall shortly after 4:30 pm.
Schroeder was listed as injured, but the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log does not specify whether she was hospitalized.
