Drought is almost gone, thanks to over a foot of rain earlier this month across much of the Flint Hills.
The latest update from the US Drought Monitor has abnormally dry conditions across the northern halves of Lyon, Chase and Osage counties, as well as most of Morris and Wabaunsee counties. There is a pocket of moderate drought in Wabaunsee County as well.
Two weeks ago, the north half of the KVOE listening area was dealing with extreme drought. Some places in the KVOE listening area picked up 10-16 inches of rain from Oct. 3-9, but even as of last week much of the area north of Interstate 35 and US Highway 50 was in moderate drought.
