The Emporia High football team scored 15 unanswered 4th quarter points on the way to a 23-20 win at Junction City Friday night.
Junction City scored first to take a 7-0 lead. The Spartans recorded a safety and then added a Jace Stewart 1 yard touchdown run to take a 8-7 lead at halftime.
Junction City would return the 2nd half opening kick-off for a touchdown and added another score with 17 seconds to play in the 3rd quarter to take a 20-8 lead into the 4th quarter.
In the 4th quarter Skyler Douglas scored on a 1yard run with just over 9 minutes to play. After the 2 point conversion Emporia High trailed 20-16. Skyler Douglas gave the Spartans the lead back on a 1 yard run and the extra point gave the Spartans a 23-20 lead. Skyler Douglas was a work horse rushing for 112 yards on 31 carries. Jace Stewart threw for 182 yards. Charles Snyder had 117 receiving yards. The Spartans with the win improve to 4-4 for the season.
With Wichita Heights loss to Kapaun 33-7 Emporia High will the 8th seed in the west and host Wichita Heights next Friday.
