Emporia Police have identified the suspect in Saturday’s low-speed pursuit of an SUV hauling a boat.
Crista G. Hinostroza, 32, of Emporia was arrested after leading police on a chase through town Saturday afternoon. Police say Hinostroza was charged on suspicion of felony vehicle theft, flee and elude, driving with a suspended license and driving without an ignition interlock device, as well as numerous traffic infractions. Hinostroza is currently awaiting formal charges from the Lyon County Attorney’s office. A first court appearance is pending.
Officers were alerted to the report of a stolen Chevrolet Suburban with an attached boat shortly after 1:45 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Neosho. Officers pursued the vehicle at low speeds of anywhere between 30 to 40 mph before deploying stop sticks near Commercial and Logan Avenue. Hinostroza was arrested after the vehicle came to a stop on East Logan Ave near Simmons Pet Foods.
A social media post states that the SUV and boat belong to Jamie Rusco of Emporia. No injuries were reported.
