Construction is moving at a good clip inside the Lyon County History Center.
Since the basement and first two floors of the facility at 711 Commercial were renovated in 2016, the Historical Society has wanted to do likewise for the third floor. History Center Director Greg Jordan tells KVOE News the remodel is underway “at high speed.”
The third floor will have a totally different look than the other floors. Originally, the floor was the Montgomery Wards warehouse, and Jordan says the goal is to have some of that industrial look and feeling once the renovations are done.
The third floor will feature restrooms, a kitchen and a “green room” for meetings or weddings. Jordan says the floor will also be available for educational programming and other event rentals.
Mitchell Markowitz, Burnap Brothers, Modern Air and Plumbing by Spellman are the major contractors involved.
Fundraising continues to finish the remodel. For more information, call the History Center at 340-6310 or go online to www.explorelyoncounty.org.
