No one was seriously hurt following a rollover crash involving a pickup south of Emporia on J Street Monday.
The accident involved a Ford F-150 pickup laid over onto its side in the east ditch about one mile south of the Lyon County Highway Department. The driver, 16-year-old Anthony Fierro was southbound when he lost control of his vehicle and went into the ditch rolling the truck before it came to rest on its driver’s side. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m.
Passengers included 17-year-old Anthony Saenz, 16-year-old Alvin Ariola, 15-year-old Hector Hernandez and, 14-year-old Kevin Rios all of Emporia. All are members of the Emporia High School soccer team. All were checked by Emporia, Lyon County Ambulance at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries and released to their parents.
All were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

No one was transported Monday afternoon following an injury crash south of Emporia on J Street.
The accident which occurred around 2:15 p.m. involved a pickup laid over onto its side about one mile south of the Lyon County Highway Department. KVOE News has confirmed from at least one Highway Department official and a Lyon County Deputy that the pickup was carrying some members of the Emporia High soccer team. Only minor injuries have been reported. It’s unclear the extent of the soccer team’s involvement in the crash.
