The interim tag is now off Amanda Cunningham as CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness has named the longtime employee as its CEO on a permanent basis.
In March, Cunningham replaced Rob Runquist, who parted ways after serving as CEO since 2015. During KVOE’s 8:05 am newscast Tuesday, she said it was exciting to be named the permanent CEO although nothing changes on a day-to-day level. She says CrossWinds currently serves about 3,500 people in Lyon and surrounding counties.
Cunningham has more than 17 years of experience with CrossWinds and the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, the facility’s prior name.
Cunningham says CrossWinds is trying to meet as many individual needs as possible, and it’s seeking therapists and providers to meet those needs at a time when lawmakers are talking more about restoring funding cuts after trimming mental health funding earlier this decade. At the same time, CrossWinds has been reaching out to area schools and other community partners to broaden its network and get more support to more people.
6 am Tuesday: CrossWinds names Cunningham as CEO
Better than six months after she was appointed as interim chief executive officer for CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness, Amanda Cunningham now has the job on a permanent basis.
CrossWinds announced Cunningham’s appointment late Monday. Cunningham has more than 17 years of experience with CrossWinds and the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, the facility’s prior name. In addition to serving as the interim CEO, Cunningham has also served as CrossWinds’ chief operations officer.
Cunningham replaced Rob Runquist, who parted ways with CrossWinds in March after serving as CEO since 2015 and being part of the mental health agency’s executive management team since 2014.
Cunningham joins our 8:05 am newscast Tuesday with more thoughts on her goals and objectives for the agency.
