Sertoma Club members welcomed the masses to the Emporia Senior Center for the club’s annual scholarship breakfast.
Club member Mark Summey says funds go to scholarships, so it was gratifying to see the community turnout.
Summey was also glad to see nursing students help the cause.
Residents had their choice of biscuits and gravy or a biscuit sandwich featuring eggs and a sausage patty. Fundraising totals could be announced as soon as Thursday.
The Sertoma Club is now gearing up for its participation in the Emporia Community Foundation’s Match Day on Nov. 12. That money benefits maintenance, upkeep and — this year — repairs to the club’s miniature train track in Soden’s Grove.
