A controversial lot split in northwest Emporia is moving forward.
Earlier this month, the Board of Zoning Appeals approved the split at 2067 Canterbury — over issues raised by nearby neighbors, who mentioned concerns about property values, stormwater runoff and zoning precedents.
City Planning and Zoning Specialist Joe Foster says the application from property owner and Coldwell Banker Emporia Real Estate agent Jamie Sauder met the city’s eight parameters required for approval, and the split of the 30,000 square-foot property also exceeded the 9.000 square-foot minimum outlined in city code.
Foster says the board’s decision is the final say in the matter.
