(kuathletics) Kansas senior kicker Gabriel Rui and freshman running back Pooka Williams Jr., were each honored by the Big 12 Conference with its weekly football awards for their efforts in leading KU to a 27-26 win over TCU.
Rui was named Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, while Williams was named Newcomer of the Week.
Rui registered a perfect day with two field goals (34 and 27 yards) and made all three PAT attempts in helping the Jayhawks to their first conference win since 2016.
Williams became the first true freshman in Big 12 history to have a 100-yard rushing game and 100-yard receiving game to his credit during the season as he collected a career-high 102 receiving yards on a career-best seven receptions, including two touchdowns.
