An Emporia man accused of stealing items from several Emporia businesses has reached a plea agreement in his case.
Shawn Patrick Gilligan, 32, pleaded no contest to single counts of non-residential burglary and felony theft at a hearing last week.
Gilligan was originally charged with two counts of burglary and two more of theft after a trailer was stolen from Heavy Metal Motors, 1931 West Sixth, on June 4, and the theft of tires and other automotive equipment from Quick Lane, 2717 West 15th, on June 11. Before the cases were combined, Gilligan was also charged with two counts of possession of stolen property after allegedly having a stolen trailer, riding mower and stainless steel bathroom stall partitions.
Had no plea agreement been reached, trial would likely have started in the case Monday.
Sentencing is set for 9 am Dec. 19.
