Osage City and Westar Energy crews worked long hours Monday night and Tuesday morning after a major power outage for the town of nearly 3,000 residents.
The outage was first reported just after 6 pm near Fifth and Lord, according to the Westar Energy power outage map. A large transformer failed behind the city’s power plant, triggering the outage.
Crews hooked up generator engines to the city’s power plant, and before 11 pm they had power restored for most of the town. Eventually, the entire town had temporary power. It took until about 4:30 am Tuesday for the transformer to be fully repaired so the generators were no longer needed.
