A near-head-on crash in southern Greenwood County sent one person to a hospital early Tuesday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the crash happened just after 3 am on US Highway 400 about seven miles east of Severy and involved a minivan and a semi. The minivan was westbound while the semi was eastbound.
The van, driven by 57-year-old Cheryl Huelsman of Wichita, crossed the center line in front of the semi, which was driven by 49-year-old Brian Menz of West Plains, Mo. Menz took evasive action, but the vehicles still collided on the passenger-side front corners.
Huelsman was taken to Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. Her condition will not be released. Menz was not hurt.
The Highway Patrol crash log does not say why Huelsman’s minivan went across the center line.
