Hundreds of trick-or-treaters visited the David Traylor Zoo on Halloween for a fun-filled evening.
Boo in the Zoo gave local families an opportunity to trick-or-treat in a unique way. Children were able to interact with the animals, play plenty of games, take a spooky train ride in Soden’s Grove and of course pick up plenty of candy.
Zoo Education Coordinator Michelle Sagers believes parents enjoy bringing their children to the event because of its safe family-friendly environment.
Over 1,500 trick-or-treaters showed up for the hour and a half long event all with unique and colorful costumes.
Also on hand for the event were members of several different local institutions including Flint Hills Technical College, Emporia Police and Fire, Cable One, Nex-Tech Wireless, Spa Royale, Flint Hills Care Center, Hostess and Emporia High School.
