A woman who authorities say led a lengthy car chase from Emporia to Hartford this past summer has reached a plea agreement in the case.
Samantha Scheve pleaded no contest to a flee and elude count during a pretrial hearing this week in Lyon County District Court. Other traffic counts were dropped as part of the agreement.
On Aug. 3, Scheve allegedly drove away from Emporia Police officers as law enforcement was in the process of finding a later co-defendant, Ethan Peterson, who was wanted on a drug warrant. Scheve and Peterson then started a nearly 90-minute chase before Scheve was arrested just outside Hartford. Peterson was not initially found but was arrested a few days later.
Sentencing for Scheve is Dec. 20. Court proceedings continue against Peterson.
