This is a big week for Emporia State University as the Kansas Board of Regents drive down the Kansas Turnpike for its monthly meeting.
The board will be on campus Wednesday and Thursday, and ESU Assistant Director for Media Relations Gwen Larson says the on-campus visits let ESU strut its stuff.
Committee and council meetings will start the process Wednesday morning before the full board convenes Wednesday afternoon.
Among the items to be discussed Wednesday will be proposals on housing and food service rate adjustments for fiscal 2020. Emporia State is requesting a roughly 2.2 percent increase in those rates for double-occupancy rooms as ESU plans to open Schallenkamp Hall next fall. No change in fees is planned for renovated or new construction rooms.
A look at non-budgetary legislative proposals is also planned.
Larson says the afternoon meeting is open to the public, so residents are encouraged to attend starting at 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Memorial Union Webb Hall.
