The Emporia State womens basketball team never trailed on the way to a 89-36 exhibition win over Bethel Monday night.
The Lady Hornets used a tenacious defensive effort to set the tone. They forced 37 turnovers and scored 46 points off the turnovers. Coach Toby Wynn says that will be a key all season.
Senior Tyra Jones led Emporia State in scoring with 16 points. She also had a team high 9 rebounds.
Emily Miller finished with 14 points, connecting on 4 of 6 three point shots. Addie Lackie added 13 points and freshman Tre’Zure Jobe scored 11 points and had 5 steals.
The Lady Hornets open the season Friday when they play Southwestern Oklahoma State in the MIAA-GAC cross over tournament in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
