Things are getting back to the normal routine for Emporia State administrators after the Kansas Board of Regents came to campus this week.
Regents make campus visits every two years, and Regent Shane Bangerter says he enjoys the visits because it gives a “great opportunity” to see what’s going on, whether there are concerns to address and to meet people representing all aspects of campus life. He says time with students can be “energizing.”
ESU President Allison Garrett says the university felt it was important to give the Regents a wide range of things to see. She said the student interaction was an important point for ESU administrators.
The Regents spent Wednesday in meetings, including discussion about a new strategic plan and potential rate adjustments for meal services. On Thursday, the Regents sat in on Emporia State’s fall robotics competition and learned more about the forensic science program. They also had a chance to tour Schallenkamp Hall and the Carl Prophet Aquatic Research Center.
Emporia State has been extremely busy the past two weeks. Last week, ESU hosted a site visit team from the Higher Learning Commission. The university also hosted the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation earlier this week.
