The Kansas Gas Service is helping customers reduce their energy costs as temperatures begin to drop.
Simple tasks such as setting your water heater to 125 degrees, or the “warm setting,” lowering your thermostat by five to 10 degrees if your house is empty or applying weather stripping to your windows may help reduce your energy consumption by as much as 15 percent. Kansas Gas Service Manager of Public Relations Dawn Tripp adds simple tricks like leaving your blinds open during the day can help increase the warmth in your home, without raising costs.
Customers may also enroll in the Kansas Gas Service’s Average Payment Plan, which helps reduce the amount of seasonal energy expenses by spreading out costs throughout the year based on a residence’s 12-month rolling bill average.
