The Emporia State womens basketball team opened the season and the Toby Wynn era with a 68-60 win over #20 Southwestern Oklahoma State Friday.
The Emporia State women trailed early by 8 but used a 15-3 run to take a 28-24 lead in the 2nd quarter. The Lady Hornets led by 4 at halftime. They used a 13-4 run to build a 15 point lead 66-51. Southwest would cut the deficit to 6 before Emporia State closed out the win. Jessica Wayne led the Lady Hornets with 19 points.
Emily Miller finished with 17 points, 14 came in the first half.
Coach Toby Wynn said it was a good win.
The Lady Hornets will play Oklahoma Baptist Saturday at 6pm. Oklahoma Baptist defeated Missouri Southern 73-63.
