Winter weather advisories remain in place, but the expiration times have been adjusted for most KVOE listeners.
The National Weather Service Topeka office has lengthened the advisories for Lyon, Coffey and Osage counties. Originally set to end at 9 am Monday, those now end at 6 pm.
Advisories for Morris and Wabaunsee counties, meanwhile, have been shortened and now end at 6 am instead of 9 am. Residents in Chase and Greenwood counties still have their current advisory ending at 9 am.
Regardless of the location, the Weather Service is still expecting 1-3 inches of snowfall areawide with pockets of higher accumulations through late afternoon Monday. The light rain and mist that fell Sunday afternoon and evening could still lead to slick travels through the early Monday hours as temperature dip back to the mid-20s.
City and county crews are monitoring the situation in case they have to treat or clear roads.

9 am Sunday: Winter weather advisories reflect potential for hazardous travel conditions
Following Thursday’s moderate snowfall, more winter weather is expected to impact travel conditions into the early part of the week.
Lyon, Morris and Wabaunsee Counties have been placed in a weather advisory from 5 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday. Subsequently, Coffey and Osage Counties are in a weather advisory from 8 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday and Chase and Morris Counties are in a weather advisory from 4 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday.
TV-13 weathercaster Peyton Sanders says unlike Thursday’s snowfall, which had little effect on travel, low temperatures Sunday and Monday may create more trouble for motorists.
There is a possibility of rain late Sunday afternoon before a gradual changeover to all snow in the evening around 7 p.m. Expected snow accumulations are between 1-3 inches.
Emporia Street and Utilities Supervisor Mike Dvorak says crews will be on standby in case spot treating is needed in certain areas.
