A man accused of aggravated battery in an alleged stabbing incident from this past summer has several hearings now on the docket before trial is supposed to begin next year.
Hayward McKoy, Jr., is charged with aggravated battery and two counts of interference with law enforcement after an incident Aug. 26 outside Emporia’s IHOP. McKoy allegedly stabbed another Emporia man with a knife in the restaurant’s parking lot before allegedly fleeing the scene.
McKoy has three potential trial settings, and the prime setting is actually the last one on the calendar — March 4. Depending on how his motions hearing Dec. 20 and his final pretrial Jan. 23 go, McKoy could also go to trial Jan. 28 or Feb. 11.
