Wichita State lost to Davidson 57-53 in the opening game of the Charleston Classic Thursday night.
The Shockers built a 10 point lead early in the 2nd half but had a 7 minute scoreless streak as Davidson went on an 11-0 run. Davidson closed out the game on a 7-3 run to seal the win.
Markis McDuffie led the Shockers with a team-high 18 points and Samajae Haynes-Jones added 15 points and five assists, but the Shockers shot just 30.8 percent from the field and were 8-of-30 from three.
Wichita State plays Appalachin State Friday.
