The 22nd annual Messiah Lutheran Church Harvest Home Festival raised funds to support local organizations Saturday.
The annual event began as a fundraiser to help the church pay for improvements to their congregation. The first seven years of the festival served that purpose, after which the congregation decided to continue the event to benefit the community as a whole.
Messiah Lutheran Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier says to him, the event is all about helping those around us.
Proceeds from this year’s event will be split between CASA of the Flint Hills, Loving Hands Foster Care Ministry, Emporia Rescue Mission, Abundant Harvest and LCMS Mission Central.
Pastor Tegtmeier explains how they select where proceeds will go each year.
The festival was held at the Lyon County Fairgrounds Anderson Building and featured breakfast, a live auction, dinner feed and several speciality booths including the Christmas Corner and Jelly Cupboard.
Totals from the event will be announced at a later time. For a full photo gallery visit this story at KVOE.com.
