Formal charges are pending against a Colorado man after a chase in Wabaunsee County where the suspect allegedly just missed a Sheriff’s Office cruiser.
The Kansas Highway Patrol tells KVOE’s television partner WIBW in Topeka that the chase developed Friday morning on Interstate 70 after a Highway Patrol trooper tried to stop a work truck for several moving violations. The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Adrainne Johnson, drove eastbound and at one point crossed the center median into westbound traffic.
Troopers stopped their chase, but the Highway Patrol says Johnson narrowly missed a westbound deputy shortly thereafter.
Authorities say they found the truck about eight miles west of Topeka. They later found Johnson and arrested him on suspicion of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, aggravated battery, felony flee and elude, possession of methamphetamine and other counts.
