Saying he looks young but he’s “old at heart,” new Granada Theatre director Aden Lindholm met with community members and theater patrons during a special event Sunday.
Lindholm hails from McPherson but most recently worked at ArtsEmerson, a contemporary world theater production company in Boston, Mass. He tells KVOE News his time as a development coordinator and teaching specialist was good training for his new job.
Lindholm says the Granada Theatre position was attractive for a number of reasons. Part of that was observing the impact McPherson’s opera house had on the community there.
Lindholm says thanked the community for being “warm and kind” as he gets acclimated.
The Granada has become a concert hub over the last five years, with country music having the most success followed by classic rock musicians. Several concerts are booked for December, with Kip Moore’s acoustic session Dec. 1, Shenandoah’s Good Ole’ Fashioned Christmas on Dec. 7 and the Emporia Municipal Band’s annual Christmas concert on Dec. 9. Lindholm is planning to keep the Granada’s focus on what he calls “diversified” concerts, but he also plans to expand into other events, whether they be personal or community in nature.
Lindholm also jumps into the planning for the 90th anniversary of the Granada’s grand opening next year. Final plans will be detailed at a later date.
