Emporia Police have shed more light into one of two injury crashes that happened in town Sunday afternoon.
Police Sgt. Lisa Sage says a northbound SUV driven by 54-year-old Minerva Aleman-Depinon of Emporia collided with an eastbound car driven by 46-year-old Elias Calderon-Lorenzana, also of Emporia, at the corner of Sixth and State around 2:10 pm.
Calderon-Lorenzana had three juveniles in the car, ages 11, 11 and 10. The police report says all three kids were taken to Newman Regional Health with minor injuries. Emporia Fire had initially told KVOE News all four occupants went to the hospital, although the early indications were two of the children likely needed treatment.
Aleman-Depinon was not hurt. However, she was cited for failing to yield at the intersection.
Police have not yet released details about a separate injury crash about 30 minutes earlier at 12th and Beverley. That crash also involved a car and an SUV, with one person in the SUV going to Newman Regional Health for treatment afterward.
