Hundreds of people flocked to Walnut Elementary on Thursday for the school’s eighth annual Turkey Day Dash.
The 5K has become a tradition for the school and the community. Principal Jami Dakin was glad to see the turnout because of the benefits this will have on students.
There were numerous volunteers, including members of the Emporia High girls basketball team. Rae Brashears says it was a fun atmosphere.
Coach Carolyn Dorsey says it was fun — and good — for the team members to get involved.
Participant Ryan LaSota enjoyed the run.
Fundraising totals will be announced later, but over 700 people from the area and even other parts of the country participated.
