The Beyond the Banners fundraising venture has come to a close with a special check presentation at KVOE this week.
KVOE, Emporia Main Street and IM Design crafted the Beyond the Banners magazines and later picked the Tablets of Honor, USD 252 Honor Flight and CrossWinds’ specialized counseling for veterans affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as beneficiaries. All three groups received $4,500 from the project.
Tablets of Honor spokesman Frank Lowery says this will set the tone for one or even two more phases of work at the All Veterans Memorial.
USD 252 Southern Lyon County is using its donation to further its Honor Flight program, with the next trip to Washington, D.C., coming in April. Superintendent Mike Argabright:
CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness CEO Amanda Cunningham says the money will bolster its already successful advanced resolution therapy program for veterans and others struggling with traumatic situations.
Main Street Community Outreach Coordinator Jessica Buchholz was grateful for how the project developed.
KVOE Promotions Director Erren Harter says it was a tough task to choose the beneficiaries.
IM Design partner Shawn Honea hopes the project doesn’t end here.
Beyond the Banners publications are available at Main Street, Twin Rivers Winery and Gourmet Shoppe and KVOE. They are also available online at www.beyondthebanners.com.
