Kansas Senator Jerry Moran recently closed down his annual Listening Tour, and he joined KVOE’s Morning Show on Friday with an overview of what he heard across the state.
Moran says the main concern among residents is health care.
Moran also says he was pleased a new partnership is now in place between the United States, Canada and Mexico, but he urged the Trump administration to keep in mind states like Kansas rely on exports to bolster their economy. He says the federal reimbursements to ag producers in light of the China trade war just don’t cut it.
In addition, Moran also discussed the upcoming Dec. 7 deadline on federal funding.
The main remaining issue for the final six appropriation bills is whether President Trump will sign off on certain spending if he doesn’t get funding for a wall along the Mexico border.
Congress has gotten into the habit of passing short-term spending bills to keep federal agencies and programs going, but early this year lawmakers were unable to reach agreements on two separate occasions. It was the first time the federal government had shut down due to lack of an agreement in nearly five years.
