More details are coming out about two blizzard-related injury crashes in Greenwood County on Sunday that happened on US Highway 400 less than five minutes apart and ultimately sent 12 people to different hospitals.
The first crash happened just after 11:50 am about a quarter-mile west of C-50 Road. The Highway Patrol says a pickup driven by 26-year-old Rashea Nunez of Barnsdall, Okla., was westbound, crossed the center line and hit a car driven by 37-year-old Alexander Brown of Bel Aire head-on.
Nunez and a passenger, 26-year-old Leonardo Nunez, also of Barnsdall, were both hospitalized — Rashea Nunez at Susan B. Allen Hospital in El Dorado, Leonardo Nunez at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Two minor children were also hurt and hospitalized, although the crash log does not say where they went.
Brown was listed as a possible injury as were two unnamed minor children in the car.
As those involved in this crash were awaiting rescue personnel, an eastbound pickup driven by 33-year-old Tarren Evans of Grove, Okla., was unable to stop and hit Brown’s car — which then ran into Brown. Evans and four unnamed minor children were taken to Susan B Allen Hospital for treatment. Brown was taken to Wesley Medical Center. The children were also hospitalized, although the crash log does not say where they were treated.
Conditions have not been released for any of the people involved in these crashes.
