The Emporia High boys swim team finished in 3rd place out of 8 teams in the season opening meet Thursday. The Spartans had 1 first place finish. Diver Reed Slayden finished in 1st place and qualified for state.
Diver Garyn Fisher finished in 3rd place. Andrew Wendling finished in 3rd place in the 50 free with a personal best time of 25.24 seconds, less than a second off of consideration time for state.
Mason Harmon finished in 4th place in the 500 free. The 200 free relay of Andrew Wendling, Joey Winter, James Murphy and Mason Harmon finished in 5th place. Derby finished in 1st place and Wichita Independent finished in 2nd place. Emporia High will host a meet on Tuesday.
