On Monday, it was announced state offices across Kansas would close to honor the passing of former President George H.W. Bush. Now a few exceptions have developed, notably when it comes to district court.
Kansas Courts Public Information Officer Lisa Taylor says some court offices will close Wednesday, while others will remain open. This follows action by the Kansas Supreme Court to give all of the state’s 31 judicial districts discretion in how to proceed on the National Day of Mourning in Bush’s honor.
Chase, Coffey and Osage County district court offices will be closed Wednesday. The Lyon County Courthouse will be open normal hours with all hearings on as scheduled.
If you’re scheduled for a hearing and are not sure if you’re still scheduled, call the courthouse where your proceeding is taking place Tuesday.
