#9 Fort Hays State used a 13-2 run in the final 4 minutes to out score #24 Emporia State Women 84-74 in a match up of 2 nationally ranked teams Saturday.
Emporia State had taken a 72-71 lead with 4:02 to play on a Tyra Jones jumper. Emporia State would not score again until there was 1 second to play. The Lady Hornets missed 4 shots and turned the ball over 2 times during the final 4 minutes. Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said they missed to many opportunities.
Jessica Wayne led Emporia State with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Tyra Jones finished with 20 points. Addie Lackey finished with 11 points. She is now tied for 5th place on career 3 point shot list with Laura Patrick with 175. She is also tied for 20th place for all time scoring list with Rachel Hanf. Fort Hays State was led by Carly Heim with 19 points. Tatyana Lagette finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Belle Barbieri added 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Hornets are now 7-2 for the season and 1-1 in the MIAA. They are off until the go to Puerto Rico for 2 games December 17th and 18th.
