As gas prices continue to lower AAA Kansas offers some insight as to what may be leading to fuller tanks and happier consumers.
With oil production in the U.S. currently the highest in the world, visiting the gas pump is not causing as much strain on residents’ pocketbooks lately. According to AAA Kansas Representative Shawn Steward, a major factor leading to the lower prices is the lower amount of demand and the high level of supply this time of year.
Seward adds, while there may be a slight uptick in prices during the holiday travel period, he doesn’t expect the current trend to change much if any through the remainder of the year.
However, Seward says while the gas prices may continue to lower through the remainder of 2018, due to recent developments in foreign countries the trend may well reverse at the start of 2019.
While we will have to wait a while to see exactly what impact those developments may carry, currently across Kansas prices have dipped as low as $1.84 in parts of Wichita. Locally prices have reached as low as $2.07 at some gas stations in Emporia.
