In case you haven’t signed up for health insurance through the federal marketplace, you’re almost out of time.
The open enrollment deadline is Saturday. The federal government encourages you to enroll or apply by going online to www.healthcare.gov. The website also has information about plans and prices, potential tax credits, changing plans and appealing insurance decisions among other topics.
Plans finalized by Saturday will formally start New Year’s Day.
Residents wanting to apply for health insurance through KanCare can also go online — www.kancare.ks.gov — for information and enrollment through Saturday. KanCare has contracted with three providers, Sunflower State Health Plan, United HealthCare Midwest and Aetna Better Health of Kansas, for insurance services. Amerigroup, an original partner since KanCare debuted in 2012, was not renewed earlier this year.
