Hartford managed back to back wins during the Area Game of the Week Tuesday.
In the boys game, Hartford would battle back from a nine-point deficit to defeat the Madison Bulldogs 49-47.
Trailing by one at halftime Hartford would trade the lead back and forth with Madison throughout the third quarter before Madison would manage to pull ahead by seven taking a 38-31 lead into the fourth. Hartford fought their way back in the fourth to trail by two with less than a minute to go when a Dalen Kistner three-pointer would put the Jaguars up by one.
Corbin Dill added a free throw before Madison sophomore Chase Harrison would miss a last-second three-pointer to seal the Hartford victory.
Hartford Coach Patrick Gardner says his young team continues to rise to the challenge.
Hartford was led in scoring by junior Cody Thomas with 21 points. Madison was led by Harrison with 18 points.
With the win, Hartford now improves to 4-2 as Madison falls to 3-3.
On the girl’s side of the doubleheader, Hartford overcame a slow first half using a 25-12 third-quarter run to defeat the Lady Bulldogs 69-36.
Hartford was led in scoring by junior Bailey Darbyshire with 22 points and senior Erika Holmes, who was 4-4 on three-pointers in the third, finished with 12 points.
Hartford coach Ryan Thomas credited his team for overcoming the early mistakes in the first half.
Senior Emily Farrow led Madison in scoring with 17 points.
The Lady Jaguars now improve to 4-2 on the season as the Lady Bulldogs drop to 1-5.
