Wichita State was a 63-60 winner over Southern Mississippi Saturday.
Jaime Echenique’s layup with 40.7 seconds remaining lifted the Shockers to the win. Jaime finished with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds. Markis McDuffy also scored 17 points. Samaj Haynes-Jones added 11 points for the Shockers. Wichita State would lead by 17 points in the 2nd half before Southern Miss rallied to take the lead. The Shockers made 2 of 4 freethrows down the streatch. Southern Mississippi missed 3 straight freethrows with 2 seconds to play. The Shockers improve to 6-4 for the season. They will host Oral Roberts Wednesday.
