The Emporia State men held on for a 93-85 win over McPherson Wednesday night to close out the before Christmas schedule.
Kooper Glicks 3 point basketball gave the Hornets a 3-2 lead and they never trailed the rest of the night. Their biggest lead in the first half was by 21. In the 2nd half they led by 23 points before McPherson cut the lead to 8, out scoring the Hornets 36-21 the rest of the half. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty was not pleased with the finish.
Coach Doty says the defensive effort has to improve.
Sawyer Glick scored a season high 20 points, making 6 three point shots, to lead Emporia State.
Malik Hluchoweckyj added 15 points and 11 assists. Duncan Fort finished with a career high 13 points, Grant Shell and Kooper Glick both scored 10 points. The Hornets go into the Christmas Break with a 6-4 record. They return to action December 30th at Northwestern Oklahoma State.
