A new fundraiser is lending aid to a Kansas couple currently going through a life-changing ordeal.
Mallory Mitchell and her fiance Kyle Hammer’s lives were drastically altered earlier this year. In March, Mallory went into cardiac arrest during a wisdom teeth extraction which ultimately led to her suffering a traumatic brain injury.
After nearly 8 months in the hospital the couple from St. Mary’s KS, returned home in October and began the long process to recovery. This includes trips to Kansas City three times a week for physical and speech therapy appointments.
Kyle says while it has been a difficult ordeal, the one constant positive is Mallory’s continuous faith.
After hearing the couple’s story, Rossville, KS resident and high school classmate of Kyle’s parents Chad Shafstall decided he wanted to assist the couple in some way. He then contacted Tawakoni Guide Service owners and podcast hosts Michael and Teri Littlejohn of Wills Point Texas.
After they heard the story the Texas couple offered up a guided fishing trip for a raffle fundraiser adequately titled “Miracle Mallory.”
Michael Littlejohn says it is exciting for him and his wife to be a part of such a heartwarming effort.
Just a few weeks after the fundraiser was announced Gilmore Crane Corporation in Topeka purchased a second fishing trip and donated it to the fundraiser as well.
When asked for his reasoning on organizing the fundraiser Shafstall explains he was recently imparted with some advice from one of his superiors which continuously resonates with him.

Entries are being excepted through 3 pm Christmas Day. The drawing will take place at 3 pm New Year’s Day.
