The Emporia State mens basketball team lost in overtime 94-90 at Northwestern Oklahoma State Sunday.
The Hornets led 35-32 at halftime. They were out scored 50-47 in the second half. Malik Hluchoweckyj converted an and 1 to send the game to overtime. In the overtime the Hornets were out scored 12-8. Northwestern would score 19 points off of 16 Emporia State turnovers. The Rangers also out scored the Hornets 18-9 on 2nd chance baskets. Hornet Coach Craig Doty said that was a difference maker.
The Hornets were 29-35 from the free throw line but it was not enough. Sawyer Glick led the Hornets with a game high 19 points. He was 5-10 from the 3 point stripe. All 5 came in the 2nd half. Malik Hluchoweckyj finished with 18 points, a team high 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Julius Jackson finished with 15 points, he was 10-14 from the free throw line. Kooper Glick added 13 points. With the loss the Emporia State men finish 2018 with a 6-5 record. They resume MIAA play on January 5th when they host Washburn.
