If your live Christmas tree has died or is just about dried out, you still have a little time to get it disposed of at no charge.
The city of Emporia will keep its tree drop-off containers at the Lyon County Fairgrounds north entrance, as well as parking lots at Dillons and Guion’s Showcase, through Wednesday.
Trees can also be taken to the Lyon-Chase County Transfer Station at 3100 West South, although residents will have to wait until Wednesday to do so because the facility is closed for New Year’s Day.
When it comes to holiday trash, the last day for extra pickup was Monday. Residents who typically have their trash picked up on Tuesdays will have that hauled off Wednesday.
