With the New Year comes a desire for a new you, but local health experts wish to remind individuals that change takes time.
Amanda Cunningham, CEO of Crosswinds Counseling and Wellness joined the New Year’s Day edition of KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 Tuesday morning and shared some advice for accomplishing their resolutions. Cunningham says the first thing individuals can do is set small individual goals rather than just one specific goal.
She explains this makes the resolution easier to accomplish as you are taking small steps each day rather than one giant leap.
While weight loss is common resolution each year for many individuals, there are also those who are searching to improve other areas of their lives as well. This includes social interaction with others, which Cunningham says starts with a strong social support system.
In terms of setting your goals for the new year Cunningham also stresses it is important to be realistic as change takes time. She adds, there is no one specific way to accomplish your goals and adjusting or making changes to your plan is okay.
