One person was taken to Newman Regional Health after a one-vehicle accident on Americus Road Saturday morning.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Emporia/Lyon County EMS were called to the 600 block of road 200, which is the s curves on Americus Road just after 8 am Saturday morning. A car driven by 62-year-old Larry Goza of Americus was traveling southbound when he hit a patch of frost and lost control of his vehicle.
The car then slid sideways into the south ditch and rolled coming to rest with the vehicle on its top. Goza managed to climb out of the vehicle after the accident.
Initially, Goza refused a trip to Newman Regional Health but later went by private vehicle. Newman does not release patient information to the media.
Goza was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
