Washburn out scored the Emporia State mens basketball team 94-81 Saturday night.
Washburn used a 10-0 run in the first half to break a 9-9 tie to take a 10 point lead and never looked back. Emporia State tried to make the end interesting cutting the deficit to 10 late in the 2nd half but could get no closer. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty said they lost to a really good team.
Julius Jackson led Emporia State in scoring with 21 points. Kooper Glick added 12 points and Justin Washington finished with 10 points.
Washburn was led by Javion Blake with 32 points and 10 rebounds. The Hornets are now 6-6 for the season and 1-2 in the MIAA.
Both the Emporia State men and women play at Northwest Missouri State Wednesday.
