Fundraising is ramping up for USD 252 as their annual spring Honor Flight trip is fast approaching.
This Friday Olpe High School will be hosting their annual all you can eat pancake feed to raise funds for the trip. Megan McGuire with Olpe High School says this year will see a bit of a change from year’s past.
Previously Chris Cakes of Wichita was in charge of serving up the cakes for the feed. According to McGuire, this year members of the Olpe and Madison Lions Clubs will be operating the griddle.
Suggested donation for the feed is $5 for children and $7 for adults. All proceeds will be going towards the spring Honor Flight which sees area veteran’s paired with a student guardian as they take a two-day tour of Washington D.C. and visit the numerous war memorials.
The feed will be taking place during the Hartford Olpe basketball game Friday evening. McGuire says between the girls and boys games they will also be honoring several individuals including local firefighters, law enforcement, active military, first responders and veterans.
McGuire says they will also be recognizing past individuals who have participated in the Honor Flight program.
The pancake feed begins at 5 pm Friday evening inside the Olpe High School commons. The spring Honor Flight is set to take off on April 22nd and return on April 23rd.
