Young hunters from the surrounding area gathered Saturday and Sunday for the annual Dave Hollond Memorial Youth Hunt.
Formerly known as the Clint Bowyer Youth Hunt, the event was renamed after the late Dave Hollond, the coordinator since it began. Twelve young outdoorsmen and women, each accompanied by a guide, came together with hopes of hunting and shooting a deer.
Several of these young men and women have attended the hunt previously, but for some like Rees Spade, it was a whole new experience.
Spade adds he hopes to come back for the hunt again next year.
As previously mentioned, each hunter is provided a guide to assist them. These individuals are experienced outdoorsmen and women, many of which have been involved with the event for a number of years.
Abner Redeker who has been a guide on numerous occasions, which included assisting some of his fellow guides when they were participants of the hunt, reminds all that safety is the most important aspect of the traditional hunt.
Eight participants were able to harvest a deer over the two day period. They include:
Saturday
Dalton Mayer
Jared Stutler
Journey Walburn
Maci Preeo
Sunday
Colt Metcalfe

Garland Hanlin
Logan Hammond
