The Emporia High boys basketball team got back on the winning track with a big 50-45 win at Manhattan Tuesday night.
It was a close game throughout. The biggest lead for the Spartans was by 7 points.
Spartan Coach Beau Welch was pleased with the defensive effort.
Charles Snyder led Emporia High in scoring with 15 points. Kyler McCullough and Jace Stewart added 11 points each. The Emporia High boys are now 6-3 for the season and 3-3 in Centennial League play.
Manhattan won the girls game 54-23. Manhattan used a 12-0 run in the first quarter that gave them a lead they would not give up. Lady Spartan Coach Carolyn Dorsey said they could not match Manhattans physical play.
The Lady Spartans were led in scoring by Gracie Gilpin with 9 points. The Emporia High girls are now 2-7 for the season and 1-5 in Centennial League play.
The Spartans go to Junction City Friday.
