The Emporia State men began the game with a 27-11 run and ended the game with a 27-11 run on the way to a 85-79 win over Missouri Western Sunday.
There were 8 lead changes and 6 ties in the game. After leading by 16 Emporia State watched Western rally to take a 40-39 lead at halftime. Western would lead by 10 with 8:57 to play before the Hornets closed out the game with the 27-11 run. Emporia State Coach Craig Doty called it an encouraging win.
Justin Washington led the way with 24 points and 17 rebounds.
Malik Hluchoweckyj added 16 points, Sawyer Glick finished with 15 points Kooper Glick scored 12 points. The Hornets dominated on the boards out rebounding Western 44-26 which led to 20 second chance points. With the win the Emporia State men are now 7-7 for the season and 2-3 in the MIAA. They will host Fort Hays State Wednesday.
